Diala Wilches, who is the governor of La Guajira, has spoken out against the kidnapping and is pleading for their safe release.

“To the kidnappers, we demand that they return them immediately, safe and sound,” was what she stated.

The Liverpool and Colombia winger, who is 26 years old, has chosen not to comment on the situation.

Diaz has appeared 43 times for Colombia, and he made the move to Liverpool from Porto just a year ago.
