Napoli confirmed on Saturday that Victor Osimhen has signed a contract extension with the club until 2026.
“Victor and Napoli together until 2026,” Napoli announced on social media, accompanied a photo of the Nigerian international striker signing the new contract with club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Napoli has not published any specifics of the new deal, but Italian media reports that a release clause worth between 120 million and 130 million euros ($132 million and $143 million) has been introduced to guarantee that the club does not lose its top player to Premier League suitors without a pay out.
Osimhen’s last contract was set to end in June 2025, and his extension has been a hot topic in Italy since Napoli won their first league championship in almost three decades last season.
He scored 26 league goals as Napoli enthralled Europe with scintillating play and were crowned champions for the first time since Diego Maradona’s stint at the club.
Since joining from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored 67 goals in 118 outings.
Napoli, on the other hand, is 14 points behind Serie A leaders Inter ahead of their Sunday night encounter with rivals Roma, and was knocked out of the Italian Cup by Frosinone in midweek.
