On Friday, Bangladesh’s first World Cup warm-up match took place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The match was against Sri Lanka, and both of Bangladesh’s opening batsmen, Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim, hit fifty runs to guide the Tigers to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.
Liton looked to have broken out of his slump and rediscovered rhythm with a score of 61 off of 56 balls that was studded with 10 fours, while Tanzid Tamim blasted two maximums and as many fours to give the Tigers a rare opening partnership of 131 runs that helped them to build a good platform for chasing the Sri Lankans’ score of 263.
The left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, the fast bowler Lahiru Kumara, and the leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha each took one wicket for Sri Lanka.
On October 2, the Tigers will compete in another tune-up match against England, and on October 7, they will make their World Cup debut against Afghanistan.
