In the first One-Day International (ODI) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Bangladeshi left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed got one to turn away sharply to remove New Zealand opener Will Young and caught Rachin Ravindra leg before wicket in the 31st over. This left New Zealand five down for 123 runs.

However, when the covers were placed on in the 34th over, rain caused play to be suspended for the second time in the innings.

Young attempted to escalate the situation by driving towards the wicket, but he was unable to reach the ball’s pitch as it abruptly spun to avoid the bat.

Nurul Hasan Sohan, the wicketkeeper, quickly removed the bails as Young left the field after his 91-ball, 58-run performance that included four boundaries and a six.

Conversely, Ravindra was at fault when he mishandled a sweep stroke and completely missed the ball as it pounded into his pads. His ran into two balls and was unable to access his account.
