On Friday, Antum Naqvi batted 300 not out from 295 balls, breaking Zimbabwe’s domestic first-class record for the greatest individual score by a hitter.
The 24-year-old all-rounder smashed the previous mark of 265 established by Cephas Zhuwao in 2017, slamming 30 fours and 10 sixes for his Mid West Rhinos in a four-day Logan Cup match against the Matabeleland Tuskers.
Since coming in Zimbabwe a year ago, Belgium-born Naqvi has amassed 715 first-class runs at an average of 102 in eight matches.
Despite having spent the most of his life in Australia, he is in negotiations with Zimbabwe Cricket about national qualifying.
