Namibia stay perfect to confirm 2024 t20 wc spot0

Namibia defeated Tanzania by 58 runs on Tuesday, confirming their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.

The Eagles presently lead the table with 10 points, and their victory over Tanzania ensured the top-two position needed to qualify for the showpiece event next year.

Namibia rose to the occasion in the game, facing a test of batting depth for the first time in the tournament. All four batsmen scored runs, but only JJ Smit scored quickly and big with an unbeaten 24-ball 40.

Tanzania used frequent wickets to limit Namibia’s scoring, but when the bottom order was called upon, Zane Green and Nicol Loftie-Eaton made key cameos to put 157 runs on the board.

Tanzania failed to meet the 158-run target, finishing with a score of 99/6. Namibia’s bowlers didn’t allow the opposition loose their arms, with none of Tanzania’s batters scoring more than one run per ball.

Namibia will participate in the Men’s T20 World Cup for the third time in a row. They made it to the Super 12 after coming second in the group stage in 2021, but not last year.

Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria are still in the running for the last available berth. Uganda and Kenya control their destiny, but Zimbabwe and Nigeria rely on the outcome of other matches.
