Bangladesh’s left-arm spinner Nahida Akter took three wickets which helped to limit Sri Lanka to 152 for six in the first ODI of the three-match series at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo. However, the match was abandoned due to rain.

Sri Lanka chose to bat first after winning the coin toss and batted for 36.4 overs. However, their start was not good as they lost Harshitha Samarawickrama on the first delivery of the innings to Jahanara Alam.

Nahida started taking wickets during the powerplay and removed the opening batsman Vishmi Gunaratne in the sixth over. She then returned after the first 10 overs to dismiss Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapatthu for 47. Soon after, Nahida took another wicket, that of Nilakshi de Silva, bringing the Sri Lankan team’s score down to 77 for four.

Fahima Khatun, who is a leg-spinner, and Sultana Khatun, who is an off-spinner, both took one wicket each. The next game will be played at the same location on Tuesday.
