Today, some important cricket games are starting in Bangladesh. Two very good teams, Mohammedan Sporting and Abahani Limited, will play against each other. It’s a big deal!
The game will start at 9 am in a place called Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Abahani and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi are playing a game and Abahani is doing well with 20 points, but Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi is in first place because they won a game against Abahani before. Mohammedan is not doing as well with only 13 points. Abahani’s captain, Mosaddek Hossain, is excited for their next game against Mohammedan because they won the last time they played.
Mosaddek, a soccer player, said that he gets really excited when he plays in important games. He used to play in a big game called Abahani-Mohammedan and hopes that his upcoming games will be just as exciting.
Last year, Imrul Kayes helped his team Sheikh Jamal win the championship. But this year, he just wants his team to do well and be in the top part of the rankings. The game won’t be as exciting because two good players, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, won’t be playing because they’re busy playing for the national team.
Jake Lintott won’t be playing in the game and Kamindu Mendis will be playing instead. Abahani’s best players will be playing well and Mohammedan wants Mahmudullah Riyad to lead the team.
The other teams playing with us won’t have their best players available either. This means we all have to figure out how to work together with the players we have. I think the players who were chosen to be backups are doing a good job.
The leader of our cricket team said that if we do a good job at the beginning, we will try to get a lot of points. If we get a lot of points, the other team will feel nervous. We just want to play well.
On Monday, some teams will play a game of cricket. Sheikh Jamal will play against Gazi Group and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s team will play against Prime Bank. The games will happen in two different places called Fatullah and Savar.
