Al-Ettifaq, a team in the Saudi Pro League, announced on Wednesday that French striker Moussa Dembele has signed with them as a free agent after his contract with Olympique Lyonnais came to an end.
Dembele’s last club was Olympique Lyonnais.
The monetary particulars of the transaction were not made public.
“Moussa Dembele, welcome to Al-Ettifaq,” the team said on the messaging site X, which was once known as Twitter.
After arriving for Celtic in 2016, Dembele quickly became one of the most talked-about players in the Scottish league, enabling the team to win three consecutive trebles.
After spending the first part of the 2020-21 season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he appeared in just seven games, he returned to the Ligue 1 team for whom he had previously played and made 172 total appearances, scoring 70 goals across all competitions. He joined Lyon in 2018, and since then he has scored 70 goals across all competitions.
Additionally, on Wednesday morning, the club announced that they had acquired the services of Scotland international defender Jack Hendry from Club Brugge of Belgium.
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Al-Nassr in December, a number of notable players have been rumored to be interested in playing in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
