Lionel Messi has resumed training with Paris Saint-Germain, according to a statement released by the club on Monday. The striker was given a one-game suspension for making a trip to Saudi Arabia and missing a training session as a consequence of the trip.
According to reports from the French media, Messi was given a two-week suspension for going on an unauthorized vacation to Saudi Arabia while he was due to be training with the team the day after the Ligue 1 leaders’ 3-1 loss to Lorient last month.
Messi offered an apology to PSG and his teammates on Friday, but he was not included in the squad that played Troyes and won 3-1. Troyes is now in second-last place in the league.
Messi was back in training for Paris Saint-Germain on May 8, according to an image that the club shared on social media with the following caption: “The Argentinian striker from Paris Saint-Germain.”
PSG currently has a lead of eight points over Olympique de Marseille and a lead of six points over Lens with four more rounds of the current season’s competition left.
In recent days, there has been a great deal of conjecture about Messi’s upcoming status at PSG.
Reuters cited a source close to Argentina’s captain as saying that he has received an official offer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for the 2019–20 campaign. The source said that a contract extension with PSG is not likely for the World Cup champion, who would be 36 the following month.
In the previous year, the country that is wealthy in oil made Messi its tourist ambassador, and he made a trip to Jeddah in May of 2022.
In January, he made his comeback to play a friendly match with PSG against a side of players from the Saudi League. It was during this encounter that he met his great adversary Cristiano Ronaldo.
