The contentious dismissal of Liverpool player Alexis Mac Allister against Bournemouth on Tuesday was overturned after the Reds filed an appeal.
In the 58th minute of Liverpool’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth, Mac Allister was given the boot by referee Thomas Bramall for kicking out Ryan Christie.
Mac Allister should only be suspended for a significant portion of the second half, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who was incensed by the choice.
“I saw it again after the game. In my opinion, aside from contact, there are no other conditions that must be met for us to issue a red card, Klopp stated on Saturday.
“It’s a decision we can all agree on; if he issues a yellow card, VAR won’t overturn it, and if he issues a red card, VAR won’t reverse it because contact indicates there wasn’t a blatant error.”
If the ban had been maintained, Mac Allister would have been absent from the team for three games, but he is now permitted to rejoin it.
According to a claim of wrongful termination, an independent regulatory body has lifted Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match penalty, according to a Football Association official.
“The Liverpool midfielder was dismissed for violent conduct on Saturday, August 19, when they played Bournemouth in the Premier League.”
In response to the FA’s ruling, Liverpool released the following statement: “A club appeal against the suspension has now been upheld by an independent regulatory commission, meaning Mac Allister is eligible for selection when the Reds travel to Newcastle United on Sunday.”
