El Observador, a media organization in Uruguay, reports that Ezequiel Lavezzi, a former international for Argentina, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning after suffering a stabbing.
The attacker, who had previously played for PSG and Napoli, was sent to Sanatorio Cantegril de Maldonado in Punta del Este, Uruguay, due to a clavicle injury.
El Observador reported that police sources claimed that the 38-year-old was stabbed by a family member due to a disagreement about money.
In addition to winning an Olympic gold medal in 2008, Lavezzi (who has three Ligue 1 titles and one Coppa Italia trophy) was a member of La Albiceleste’s 2014 FIFA World Cup team that advanced to the final.
