Frank Lampard believes that his managerial reputation should not be negatively affected by Chelsea’s five consecutive defeats since he took over as manager. Chelsea’s poor season continued with another embarrassing loss to Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard took over as manager after Potter was fired, but has not been able to improve the team’s performance. He had previously been fired by the team’s previous owner in 2021 and is currently only signed on until the end of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino, a former coach of Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain, is rumored to be in talks to become Chelsea’s next permanent manager. The previous manager, Frank Lampard, had already damaged his reputation due to being fired from Everton earlier this year when the team was struggling in the relegation zone.
If Chelsea finishes outside the top half of the Premier League for the first time since 1996, it could harm Lampard’s future prospects as he is associated with the struggling team.
Chelsea’s former top scorer has a different perspective, stating that future employers should acknowledge the problems the club was facing before he became their manager. Lampard admits he was aware of the risks involved with accepting the job, but he is proud of his position nonetheless.
