According to The Indian Express, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is going to take an indefinite vacation from white-ball cricket.
Kohli, the leading run-scorer in the 2023 World Cup, reportedly notified the BCCI that he would be unavailable for selection in white-ball contests indefinitely. This virtually eliminates him from the forthcoming white-ball phase of India’s tour to South Africa, as well as the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January.
“He (Kohli) has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and will contact them to discuss when he wants to play white-ball cricket again.” “For the time being, he has informed the BCCI that he will be playing red-ball cricket, which means he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa,” a BCCI source was quoted in the report as saying.
In South Africa, India will play three T20Is and as many ODIs before a two-Test series, beginning with the T20Is on December 10 in Durban.
