Jurgen Klopp slammed a “ignorant” television presenter for making a joke about Liverpool’s next game being on a Saturday lunchtime after Wednesday’s 2-0 win at Sheffield United.

Klopp was enraged when Amazon Prime Video broadcaster Marcus Buckland informed him that Liverpool’s next game was against Crystal Palace in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The German was speaking during a post-match pitchside interview following Liverpool’s 2-0 Premier League victory against Manchester United on Wednesday.

Liverpool drew within two points of leaders Arsenal thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai at Bramall Lane.

However, Klopp’s mood was dampened when Buckland quipped about Liverpool returning to play at the manager’s “favourite kick-off time” against Crystal Palace for the 1230 GMT kick-off.

Klopp has already expressed his displeasure with Liverpool playing early on Saturdays following Wednesday evening games.

“That’s really brave to make a joke about that,” he interrupted Buckland.

“We go home; I’m not sure what time we’ll get home; we’ll arrive, maybe 1 or 2 a.m. tonight, and then play again.” We have two sessions scheduled.

“It’s fine to rest, and then we’ll go again.” Crystal Palace also play tonight, so everything is great.

“I understand you don’t understand it as well as I do, and you work in football, so why should I explain it again?” You’re an idiot if you make a comedy out of it.”

When Buckland stated that he did not intend to be disrespectful, Klopp responded, “You were already.”

“All good, you can say what you want, I cannot say what I want because that would be really different.”

Liverpool’s strong form has propelled them into the title fight, while champions Manchester City are struggling.

After losing 1-0 against Aston Villa on Wednesday, City has now gone four league games without a win.

They behind Liverpool by four points, but Klopp has refused to dismiss Pep Guardiola’s club.

“If someone writes City off that would be the biggest joke in the history of football, that makes no sense,” he went on to say.

“Arsenal is fighting, and the next game begins at 0-0.” I have no idea where it (the title) will wind up.

“With all the games coming up, it’s going to be extremely difficult and intense.” Please contact me again in April.”

Klopp also stated that Cameroonian defender Joel Matip has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament after injuring himself in Sunday’s victory over Fulham.

“It’s an ACL that’s ruptured, so that’s what I expected, and that’s what it looked like.” “It’s unfortunate, but that’s all there is to it,” he remarked.
