Eleta Kingsley and Sazzad Hossain, both of whom had been in good form recently, were not selected by Bangladesh coach Javier Cabrera for the 23-person roster that will compete in the SAFF Championship later this month.

As part of their preparation for the next regional football spectacular, the national football team is slated to go for Phnom Penh tomorrow in order to take part in a friendly encounter against Cambodia. The match is planned to take place on April 14.

Kingsley of Abahani, who was born in Nigeria but plays for Bangladesh, has the most goals scored by a local player in both the Bangladesh Premier League and the Bangladesh Federation Cup. Kingsley’s debut for Bangladesh came in March during a friendly match against Seychelles. He has one goal in the Fed Cup in addition to his eight goals in the BPL.

Sazzad Hossain, who plays for Mohammedan, has lately put in an excellent performance in the professional football league by scoring three goals.

In addition to Eleta and Sazzad, two key defenders, Tutul Hossain Badsha and Rimon Hossain, were dismissed from the team due to injuries they sustained. As a result of their play, winger Shahriar Emon, midfielder Masuk Mia Jonny, and goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Sraban, who were all members of the 30-person preliminary team, were not selected for the final roster.

Sheikh Morsalin, an attacking midfielder, and Rafiqul Islam, a winger, are the two players that have just joined the squad.

On June 15, Bangladesh will compete in a friendly match against Cambodia. The following day, on June 16, Bangladesh will travel from Cambodia to India in order to take part in the SAFF Championship, which will be held in Bengaluru, India, from June 21 through July 4.
