Today at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, in their penultimate Group D encounter of the AFC Cup, the Bashundhara Kings are eager to continue their winning streak at home against the visiting Maziya Sports & Recreation Club.
T-Sports will broadcast the action live from the location starting at 6:00 p.m.
With seven points from four games, the four-time Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) winners are atop Group D, which consists of four teams.
They could finally realise their aim of making it to the knockout stage for the first time in four attempts if they defeat the Maldivian team.
“Our primary focus is on the actual significance of the game and the events that will take place on the field,” stated Oscar Bruzon, the Spanish coach of the Kings, during yesterday’s press conference.
“We have been doing beautiful work with our players and are identifying the strong points of Maziya that we want to neutralise and trying to understand where are their weaknesses to try and capitalise on them,” stated the Spaniard in the Kings Arena.
The Kings suffered their first-ever loss against the Maldivian team, Maziya, 3-1, on the road to start their AFC Cup campaign this year.
Prior to the rematch, Bruzon stated that his team is feeling confident and is committed to maintaining their winning record in international games on their home pitch.
The Kings had defeated Mohun Bagan 2-1 this year and Odisha FC 3-2 in their prior AFC Cup matches at the Kings Arena.
“We have never lost in our three [two] games at Kings Arena. Not what I would call lucky. Regarding confidence, it is complete and unwavering. We are the same Bashundhara that participated in the previous game here, and the boys are working hard.”
Reminiscent of their first victory over the Indian team Mohun Bagan Super Giants, the Kings will take the pitch.
Brazilian forward Robson Da Silva of the Kings scored the game’s second and final goal for his club.
The Brazilian captain of the Kings, Maziya, is expected to miss the encounter because he returned to training on Saturday for the first time since the Mohun Bagan game.
Bruzon remained silent regarding Robson’s availability.
“We don’t want internal information to be disclosed. We are experiencing an issue with injuries. Because of its continuity and discontinuity, the calendar is difficult, according to Bruzon.
“Robson has contributed to our big games… We will make every effort to ensure that every player is available. option B will be a workable option if our skipper is not present,” he continued.
Milomir Seslija, the Bosnian coach of Maziya, stated that his team is eager to give the hosts their best game.
“We’ll attempt to play our best against the good team, the Bashundhara Kings, who are among the finest teams in our group. It inspires and motivates us to compete against teams like Bashundhara Kings.”
The second-placed Mohun Bagan, who are tied with the Kings on points but lag them due to their head-to-head record against them, will play third-placed Odisha FC in the other Group D encounter of the day at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium.
