Khelaghar Shamaj Kallyan Samity prevailed over Abahani Limited by eight runs in a low-scoring match that took place on Wednesday in the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Narayanganj. The match was played in the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League.
Abahani were given a modest goal of 171, but they were bowled out for 162 in 48.1 overs by Khalaghar spinners Murshida Khatun and Sultana Khatun. Both of these Khalaghar spinners collected three wickets for their team.
Lata Mondol, who had previously amassed a century in one of her earlier games, had the highest score early on with 72 runs off of 114 balls, including three fours and a six.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Khalaghar scored 170 runs before being bowled out in 44 overs. Openers Dilara Akter and Shorna Akter each scored 30 runs for their team.
Abahani’s openers, Shamima Sultana and Murshida Khatun, got the team off to a solid start by putting up a 61-run partnership; however, the middle order struggled to find their footing. Both of the openers, Shamima (62) and Murshida (32), were bowled out by the leg-spinner Fahima Khatun. However, Abahani’s Indian recruit Shivani Singh and skipper Jahanara Alam battled to see their team through before the former was run out for 22 and the latter was dismissed for 19 as Khalaghar claimed consecutive wins in the league. Despite their efforts, however, Khalaghar was able to secure successive wins and win the league.
