Key players return to australia squad for india odi series0

Following their recovery from injuries, Australia’s Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and Pat Cummins will be back in the one-day international team for the three-match series in India, the cricket board of that nation said on Sunday.

The three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) scheduled for September 22–27 in Mohali, Indore, and Rajkot will act as a warm-up for the 50-over World Cup, which kicks off on October 5.

Due to a broken wrist, Cummins has not played since the last Ashes test in England in July. Meanwhile, Starc, another fast bowler, has been rehabilitating from a groin ailment.

While Maxwell is recuperating from an ankle ailment, Smith played the Ashes series despite having a wrist tendon injury.

Mitchell Marsh is leading the team against the Proteas in the ongoing ODI series in South Africa, although all four players have not played.

As Travis Head heals from a fracture to his left hand, Matthew Short has also been brought up as an additional batter.

Head, the opening batter, fractured his hand in Friday’s game against South Africa, raising questions about his ability to play in the World Cup.

When he returns to Australia, “Head will undertake further medical review before a return to play schedule is determined,” the National Selection Panel said.

Australia’s ultimate World Cup team of 15 players must be decided on September 28.

Team Australia:

Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, and Pat Cummins (captain).
