Joselu, a Spanish international footballer, stated on Tuesday that it was a “dream” to return to Real Madrid 11 years after he departed.
Joselu, 33, stated at a press conference in the Spanish capital, “I’ve been imagining this moment since the day I left. I’m very excited.”
The forward, who has scored three goals in four international appearances, arrives from Espanyol on a one-year loan with purchase option to bolster Madrid’s depleted attack.
The departures of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz have made space for significant reinforcements.
“Everyone is aware of Karim’s status at this club, but I’m here to perform a different function,” he said.
When you step onto the field, particularly at the Bernabeu, you want to score goals.
After midfielder Jude Bellingham, defender Fran Garcia, and the return of Brahim Diaz, Joselu is the club’s fourth signing.
The striker, who has played for ten clubs in Spain, Germany, and England, previously played for Real Madrid B and made one La Liga appearance for Los Blancos during the 2010-11 season, but was unable to make the first squad.
Despite Espanyol’s relegation, Joselu finished third in La Liga scoring with 16 goals, garnering him a call-up to the national team for the Nations League final four.
The goalkeeper scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of the semi-final against Italy and came off the bench in the final against Croatia on Sunday as Spain won in the Netherlands.
