Jayasuriya becomes quickest spinner to 50 test wickets0

A man named Prabath Jayasuriya from Sri Lanka did something really impressive in a game called Test. He was very good at throwing the ball in a special way called spin bowling and he did it better and faster than anyone else before him. He broke a record that was made 70 years ago!

A player in a cricket match named the “left-armer” did something very special on the fifth day of the game against Ireland. He caught a player from the other team named Paul Stirling, who had already scored a lot of points earlier in the game. Another player on his team named Kusal Mendis helped him by diving to catch the ball. This was a big accomplishment for the left-armer, and only a few other players have ever done it before.

Jayasuriya, who is 31 years old, played a game where he tried to get the other team’s players out. He was already pretty good at it, with 43 successful attempts before this game. In this game, he got five players out in the first round, and then got another player out on the fourth day.

Jayasuriya is really good at bowling in cricket. He has taken 50 wickets in his first six Test matches, which is very fast! The only person who did it faster was a man named Charlie Turner a long time ago. Another good bowler named Alf Valentine did it in eight matches.

Tom Richardson and Vernon Philander, who were both very fast at throwing the ball in the game of cricket, took seven games each to achieve a special goal in the year 1896 and 2012.
