Inter Milan, a club in Serie A, made the announcement on Wednesday that Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado had signed with the club. Fans of Inter Milan protested the entrance of the player after he was released by their arch rivals Juventus.
After spending eight years with Juventus, during which time he won five league titles and reached the final of the Champions League in 2017, Inter announced in a statement that the 35-year-old player had signed a one-year contract with the San Siro club.
Cuadrado expressed to Inter TV that it was an honor for him to be a part of “one of the biggest teams in Europe.”
I was presented with a number of options; but, Italy is like a second home to me. My ancestors have deep roots in this land, and I had the chance to represent a powerful club with a storied past while remaining in the country where I was born and raised.
“I selected Inter because everyone is familiar with what they stand for on a worldwide scale.
“The most important thing is that everyone in my family and I am happy. We were given the opportunity to continue our stay in a location that we consider to be our home. It is without a doubt going to be the option of highest quality.”
Additionally, Cuadrado has played for the Italian clubs Udinese, Lecce, and Fiorentina in the past. After initially joining Juventus on loan from Chelsea, in 2017 he took the decision to make his move to Juventus permanent.
Cuadrado, who has played for his country 115 times, will fill in as a deputy to Denzel Dumfries, who is from the Netherlands and plays right wing-back for the Netherlands national team, in Simone Inzaghi’s side.
Despite having a “childhood marked by difficulties,” Inter welcomed Cuadrado’s “experience and plenty of desire to win and enjoy himself,” despite the fact that he had a terrible childhood.
“Technique, versatility, and dependability: Juan is prepared for a new adventure with the Nerazzurri.”
Cuadrado’s transfer to Inter has, however, outraged Inter fans, who despise him for being a symbol of Juventus’s most recent victories as well as for a number of incidents that have occurred during matches between the two clubs.
The most recent one was a heated argument with Samir Handanovic at the end of a 1-1 draw in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup from the previous season, which was also marred by Romelu Lukaku being subjected to racial abuse by Juventus supporters.
Cuadrado, who scored for Juventus that evening, was given a three-game suspension for grabbing Handanovic by the neck and hitting him after the incident.
Fans believe that he is a chronic diver who fakes fouls and exaggerates contact, like as the time in 2021 when he won and then scored a penalty against Inter by kicking out at Ivan Perisic before falling down on the ground. Fans view him as a diver who fakes fouls and exaggerates contact.
Cuadrado left Milan’s Linate airport on Tuesday night with his head sunk and refused to speak to waiting reporters. After finishing tests at Italy’s Olympic Committee (CONI), one fan hurled a salvo of foul-mouthed insults at him. Cuadrado has stated that he will not speak to waiting reporters.
A banner with the inscription “you did everything you could to make yourself hated, and if you want that to change, it’s down to you” was hung outside the CONI headquarters.
As the previous year’s runners-up in the Champions League struggled to reach a selling agreement with Chelsea, supporters of Inter were already frustrated by rumors that Lukaku had made up his mind that he wanted to play for Juventus instead of Inter.
Lukaku failed to make an impact during his second stint at Chelsea following a £97.5 million ($126 million) transfer to the Premier League club two years ago. As a result, the Belgian forward spent the previous season on loan at Inter.
Over the course of two years with Inter, he had established himself as a fan favorite by scoring 64 goals in 95 matches and leading the team to their first Serie A championship in more than a decade. The 2021 Scudetto was the trophy that broke both an 11-year drought and Juventus’ stranglehold on Italian football.
