Two days after losing the Champions League final, the players from Inter Milan’s roster reported for duty with Italy in advance of their semi-final match against Spain in the Nations League. The match took place on Monday.
On Thursday, Roberto Mancini’s squad will face Spain at Enschede, which is located in the Netherlands.
Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Francesco Acerbi, and Matteo Darmian were the five Inter players who were called up to play for Italy and they all reported to the national training center for the Italian squad in Coverciano, which is located near Florence. The Champions League final was played in Istanbul and was won by Manchester City.
A defender named Acerbi said at a news conference that “the focus is now on the game on Thursday.” “Spain is held in high regard, but we do not feel threatened by them because we are aware of both their strengths and their weaknesses.”
Italy, the reigning champions of Europe, is seeking to get back on track after missing out on World Cup qualification for the second year in a row.
“It was most likely our fault that we did not qualify for the World Cup. Now that there is something called the Nations League, which we want to win, he said, “we are going to give something extra to make it happen.”
A homage was given by Mancini to the late Silvio Berlusconi, the former owner of AC Milan, who passed away on Monday morning at the age of 86.
“It’s a sad day for everyone because Silvio Berlusconi is a man who has meant so much to Italy,” said Mancini. “Silvio Berlusconi has been such an important figure in Italian history.”
