Imad Wasim, an all-rounder for Pakistan, said on social media on Friday that he was quitting international cricket.

“In recent days I have been doing a lot of thinking about my international career and I have come to the conclusion that now is the right time for me to announce my retirement from international cricket,” according to an image that Imad shared on social media.

The 34-year-old, who has represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is, was not included in their team for the just finished ICC World Cup in India.

Imad last participated in a T20I in April of this year, having not played for the Pakistan ODI team since November 2020.

Imad has played eight years of international cricket for Pakistan, taking 109 wickets and amassing 1472 runs in the two white-ball formats.

Imad wished Pakistan cricket the best of luck in the future and declared that he would now focus solely on franchise cricket in his parting statement.

I want to express my gratitude to the PCB for all of their help over the years; it has been a true honour to represent Pakistan. Every one of my 121 appearances in the T20I and ODI formats was an incredible experience.

“With new coaches and leadership joining the team, Pakistan cricket is entering an exciting new chapter. I hope everyone engaged has the best of luck, and I’m excited to see the team succeed.”
