According to the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hassan Papon, cricket is eating up a significant portion of his time, and he is considering resigning from his position in order to devote more time to his other responsibilities.

After the Tigers set a new record with a 546-run victory against Afghanistan in the lone Test match that was played at Mirpur on Saturday, the president of the BCB addressed the media.

“I have spent the most of my life working in the pharmaceutical industry, and as a result, everything centered around this. Then there is politics, which is the inheritance left to me by my father. Since politics is a very touchy subject for me, I keep myself quite busy with it.

“Aside from that, I have at least twenty other things that need my time and attention. However, keeping up with this cricket is eating up all of my time. It was really essential to me, but I had to postpone the meeting today so that I could watch the test match. I can’t convey how important it was to me, however.

The bulk of my time is being consumed by cricket, which is the primary reason why I believe it is necessary for me to transition away from this as quickly as is humanly feasible. Papon said to the media on Saturday that before he leaves Bangladesh, he would want to “give something to Bangladesh cricket.”

The 62-year-old candidate for president of the BCB was re-elected to the position he first assumed in 2012 and has served continuously in that capacity since then.
Papon had said in the past that the physician had cautioned him against watching cricket, particularly the tight matches which may be detrimental to his health.
