Towhid Hridoy went home yesterday after a short but successful stay with the Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). This was his first time playing in a foreign franchise league.
The top-order batter got 155 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 135.96. His first game against Colombo Strikers was the game-winner with 54 runs off 39 balls.
The 22-year-old said that playing in the LPL was a new experience where he learned a lot of things that will help him in the future.
“Praise be to God. “It was something new for me, and I really liked it,” Hridoy told the press when he got back.
“I’ve learned a lot, and I hope it will help me in the future. I tried to stick to my process and use it whenever I could. “I tried to stick to my plan and play the ball as well as I could,” Hridoy said.
When he played for the Tigers in their white-ball games earlier this year, the cricket player from Bogura showed promise. He said that Sri Lankans liked him a lot and that he got a lot of praise from them.
“I was given good help. When I played in the outfield, everyone knew me and always called me “Hridoy, Hridoy.”
Hridoy says that playing in the LPL will help him learn about the grounds and tracks for the Asia Cup, which will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the end of this month.
