Heath streak passes away0

Heath Streak, a former cricket player and coach from Zimbabwe, passed away. Nadine Streak, Streak’s wife, revealed her husband’s death on Facebook. She penned

“The greatest love of my life and the father of my lovely children was brought to be with the Angels in the early hours of Sunday, September 3, 2023, from his house, where he desired to spend his last days surrounded by his closest loved ones. He didn’t leave the Park by himself; instead, he was showered with love and tranquility. Streaky, our spirits are bonded for all eternity. While I hold you one more.”

Between 1993 and 2005, Heath Streak played for Zimbabwe in 65 Test matches and 189 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) before taking up the role of national team coach.

During his two-year tenure as Bangladesh’s pace-bowling coach beginning in 2014, Streak helped the Tigers win their first ODI series against Pakistan, India, and South Africa and advance to the World Cup’s knockout stages.

Due to Streak’s violation of the ICC’s anti-corruption rules, he was banned from all cricket-related activities for eight years in 2021. He was charged with disclosing confidential information on T20 league franchises, among them the Indian Premier League. Although Streak acknowledged receiving a suspension, he denied any role in match-fixing.

Streak established the Heath Streak Academy in 2014 to support the expansion and growth of cricket in Zimbabwe.

Streak’s close buddy Sean Williams, who plays cricket for Zimbabwe now, revealed to Cricbuzz in May of this year that Streak was fighting liver and colon cancer. He was said to have said:

Streak’s family requested privacy in a May statement, stating that the former cricket player was receiving treatment in South Africa.
