At the end of the 34th over in the second one-day international match, which took place on Saturday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Afghanistan’s openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz had put up 223 runs, which was the highest-ever ODI stand for the country.

The contest was the second of a three-match series.

During the match between Afghanistan and Scotland in 2018, Mohammad Shahzad and Karim Sadiq put up an unbroken 218 for the second wicket, which was their highest-ever partnership for any wicket previous to today’s match.

In the history of one-day internationals, there has been five partnerships that scored 300 runs or more; of the five, two were scored in the opening stand.

While Gurbaz was still undefeated on 123, Zadran was still not out and was very close to scoring his fourth ODI century in 13 outings.
