Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his desire that Lionel Messi, a superstar player for Argentina, will return to Barcelona in order to have the send-off that he ‘deserves’.
Guardiola gave an interview to ESPN in which he guaranteed that Messi “will do the impossible to return to Barcelona” despite the uncertainty surrounding Messi’s future.
During the course of the conversation, he made the following statement: “I am a Barcelona fan, I’ve got my tickets [at Camp Nou], and I just hope that one day we can say goodbye to him as he deserves.” He is the best player in the history of the game.
The city of Barcelona has had somewhat of a “boom” in the past decade or two, which would not have been possible without him. And I’m not talking about statistics here; rather, I’m referring to his engagement in the play, his beauty, his efficiency, and everything else,” Guardiola continued.
After being suspended for taking an unapproved vacation to Saudi Arabia, considerable speculation has been centered on Messi’s future at PSG over the course of the past week. The travel was to Saudi Arabia.
The transfer to a Saudi club was reportedly a ‘done deal’ according to French media on Tuesday. The report further stated that the Argentina captain was in the midst of finalizing details prior to signing a contract with the Saudi team.
However, Messi’s father Jorge Messi disputed that any agreement had been struck with another team and stated that a choice would not be made until the end of the current season. Jorge Messi indicated that a decision will be made. Guardiola has asserted that the 35-year-old player will do all in his power to play at the Nou Camp again.
He said, “And I know that Joan [Laporta] is going to try, and Leo too, and he and his family will receive all the love that Barcelona fans have for him, with all of the gratitude and respect for what he did for the club,”
