'going to be strange to not be in the middle with you anymore': shakib writes on tamim0

On Friday morning, Bangladesh’s Test and Twenty20 captain Shakib Al Hasan shared an emotional statement on his Facebook account. In the post, he reflected on the time he and Tamim Iqbal had playing together for the national team and wished Iqbal the best of success for the future.

Shakib, who apparently has had a spat with Tamim in recent times, reflected on the early days of their friendship and the contribution that the two players made to Bangladesh cricket. Shakib also talked about the impact that the pair had on the sport.

“From 2003, we took our first steps together at Under 15 level playing for Bangladesh’s national team and shared our dreams and goals together to build a formidable bond and friendship over the course of 20 years,” the ace all-rounder said in his letter. “We shared our dreams and goals to build a formidable bond and friendship over the course of 20 years.”

“We, along with many others, made a lot of sacrifices to take cricket in Bangladesh to the next level, and your zeal and aggression has helped inspire many more people to do the same.”

“We had a single objective in mind, which was to win for our nation, and we depended on each other’s capabilities to accomplish this.

“Your runs and records speak for themselves, and all of us on the team are incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished as a player,” Shakib said afterward. “We’ve got your back.”

It was said that it would be unusual to be there out in the middle without the left-handed opener by the all-rounder, who will most likely lead the ODI side in the long term in Tamim’s absence.

“It’s going to be strange to not be in the middle with you anymore…but your fire will be inside all of us when we step into every battle,” she said. “It’s going to be strange.”

Shakib’s parting words were, “May you continue to hit sixes in life and cross boundaries, and may you always cherish new moments with the people you care about.”
