Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist has cleared the air after an internet article attributed a statement to him on Pakistan’s performance in Australia.
A fan quoted Gilchrist as saying, “Pakistan [is] the worst Asian team in Australian conditions, what have they won here in the last 35 years?”
The tweet came after Pakistan’s recent 3-0 Test series setback at the hands of Pat Cummins’ side.
‘I never said anything like that. ‘Absolutely phony, it’s a made-up phrase,’ Gilchrist tweeted.
I never stated anything like that. Quotes are all fabricated. This summer, Pakistan was great at times against a World Champion Australian squad, and they came close to winning a Test or two. #ignore #fakenews pic.twitter.com/DsQ9KUINIrJanuary 11, 2024 Adam Gilchrist (@gilly381)
‘Pakistan were great at moments this summer, against a world champion Australian team…and they came close to stealing a Test or two.’
During his distinguished 13-year international career, Gilchrist played 96 Tests and 287 One-Day Internationals for Australia and is largely considered as one of the world’s top wicket-keeper batsmen.
