France ministry searched in neymar psg transfer probe: report0

The French finance and economics ministries were searched earlier this week as part of an investigation into Brazil football player Neymar’s 2017 sale to Paris Saint-Germain, a source told AFP on Thursday.

Officers from anti-corruption sections conducted the searches on Monday, raising concerns that PSG may have gotten preferential tax treatment as part of the transfer, according to the source.

Neymar joined Qatar-owned Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in 2017 for a world record sum of 222 million euros ($242 million), scoring 118 goals in 173 games despite a number of ailments.

Last year, he departed the French club for Saudi Al-Hilal, becoming the latest world-famous player to sign with the high-spending Saudi Pro League.

According to a source close to the discussions, he will make 100 million euros every season in Saudi Arabia, while PSG would profit by the same amount.
