On Friday, Andy Flower was named head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), replacing Sanjay Bangar in that role. In addition, the Indian Premier League (IPL) club let go of Mike Hesson as their director of cricket operations.
Flower, a former captain of Zimbabwe, has established himself as a successful coach and is in high demand. He led England to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2010, and he has also seen success in franchise-based events in England, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Flower coached the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will be reuniting with Faf du Plessis in Bangalore. Flower and du Plessis previously worked together in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the St. Lucia Kings.
Flower was quoted as saying in a statement released by the RCB that “I’m truly honored to represent a franchise of their size, reputation, and standing.” This was in response to the fact that the RCB has not yet won the Indian Premier League championship despite the presence of star players like as Virat Kohli.
“RCB have an unrivaled fan following, and I can’t wait to fully experience the atmosphere in the Chinnaswamy next season,” he said. “I can’t wait to fully experience the atmosphere in the Chinnaswamy.”
“I can’t express how thrilled I am to see Faf again.
He said, “We have worked very well together in the past, and I look forward to forging our partnership and relationship into something bigger and better,” he added.
