Fifth Floor clinch first DS Intra Cricket title since 2017

At the Jagannath Hall cricket ground on Friday, the Fifth Floor team defeated the Sixth Floor team by a score of 66 runs in the Daily Star Intra Cricket Tournament 2024 final.

The floor won with such dominance that it was their first championship since 2017.

Fifth Floor batted first and amassed a massive 103 in 10 overs. Sixth Floor’s response was a pitiful 37 in 5.4 overs, with none of their overcooked batsmen managing to score more than ten runs.Shoumik Sarker, who opened the Fifth Floor, gave his team a strong start with a quickfire 25-ball 44 that included three maximums and one four. Toufiq, who struck a 35 off 20 balls, was his opening companion and a great asset to him.

Komol and Wasim of Sixth Floor took two wickets each, although they had difficulty controlling the game.

Fifth Floor’s explosive bowling performance, spearheaded by Arif (4) and Mamun (3), who combined for seven wickets, enabled Sixth Floor be bowled out in six overs. It’s interesting to note that despite giving up 19 runs in 37 innings, Fifth Floor bowlers scored more than any Sixth Floor bowler.

Despite their valiant attempt to reach the final, Sixth Floor’s chances of scoring in double figures were severely diminished as no batter could reach double digits.

The Business Development employee Shoumik was named the Player of the Tournament.
