According to a story from The Telegraph, the England and Wales Cricket Board has plans to host both Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in the 2024–2025 season in an effort to boost interest in test cricket all over the world. As part of these plans, Bangladesh may be invited to play a Test match at Lord’s at that time.
The Future Tour Programme (FTP) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) does not list any matches for Bangladesh in England until March 2027. The Tigers competed in two Test matches in England in 2010, one of which was played at Lord’s Stadium, marking the last occasion that England played host to Bangladesh for a series that was not part of an ICC tournament.
However, interest in hosting Bangladesh matches in England has grown as a result of the very high ticket sales for Bangladesh matches during the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup. This is in addition to the recent one-day international series that was played in Chelmsford versus Ireland.
Although England are only slated to play five Test matches during the home summers of 2024 and 2025, the ECB is contemplating adding one additional Test match to their calendar in order to provide an opportunity for other countries, such as Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, to play in England.
