At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today, East Zone emerged victorious in the third and final round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), defeating North Zone by an innings and 112 runs.
East Zone’s triumph gave them 20 points overall, ten more than the second-place Central Zone, who beat South Zone by ten wickets in their third-round match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.
On day three, both matches came to an end.
In Sylhet, East Zone bowler Khaled Ahmed helped bundle out North Zone for just 132 by taking five of the final seven wickets in the second innings.
With a career-best match total of 11-90, Khaled concluded with seven wickets in the innings.
Akbar Ali, the North Zone captain, scored the highest, 33.
Abu Hider and Shohidul Islam, two Central Zone pacers in Dhaka, took four and three wickets in the second innings, respectively, to dismiss South Zone for just 49 runs.
In just one over, Central Zone was able to surpass their 16-run target.
East Zone, the champions, had previously tied with South Zone and defeated Central Zone by seven wickets.
