Jurgen Klinsmann expects his South Korean team to get to the Asian Cup final, but he cautioned on Sunday that there would be “drama” and “nail-biters” along the way.

The club lead by striker Son Heung-min is one of the favorites in Qatar to win the trophy for the first time since 1960.

South Korea are widely predicted to win their first match against Bahrain on Monday, but Klinsmann warned: “Game number one is a very, very important game, and you want to start well in any tournament.”

“Every game will be challenging. “All of the teams in Qatar deserve to be here and are strong,” said the renowned German striker, who won the World Cup as a player.

Klinsmann, who took over as South Korea coach in February of last year, said, “I think we have a very strong team, and the goal is to be here at the end of the tournament and play in the final.”

“This team has the qualities to win the tournament without a doubt, but it will be a long, long battle, a marathon.”

“Every game will be a nail-biter, there will be drama, but this is what tournaments are about.”

South Korea also possesses Hwang Hee-chan, who has averaged a goal every other game for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this season, in addition to Spurs forward Son.

The striker described linking up with his nation as a “special moment,” dismissing any suggestion of exhaustion due to the rigors of the Premier League.

“When we come to the national team we don’t speak about how tired or stressed we are, we don’t speak about how fatigued we are,” the 27-year-old stated.

“We talk about what we can do to improve the team and get the results that everyone wants back in Korea.”

“We have been preparing well for the tournament and I want to go out there with everything and get the result that we want.”
