Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has warned his son-in-law to not call him ‘sasur’ (father-in-law) in public.
“I don’t want to hear this word from your mouth again,” Shahid told Shaheen during a chat with Samaa TV.
Shahid explained that Shaheen should not call him father-in-law as he has also won a cricket trophy recently. Afridi was talking about the Legends League Cricket where, his side, Asia Lions defeated India Maharajas by nine runs to win the trophy.
Shaheen also revealed how special it was for him when he bowled against Shahid in the Pakistan Super League five years ago. The left-arm pacer also shared the kind of relationship he shares with Shahid.
“He is my role model. He has been the inspiration for me. I have enjoyed Lala’s batting, I used to switch off TV when he used to get out. He is my hero and like my friend,” said Shaheen.
Afridi said Shaheen is like his son and he has surprised him with his maturity.
“I’ve always been a friend to my wife and daughter.” Shaheen is both my kid and a friend. He is a really decent youngster who has amazed me with his captaincy. “It’s wonderful to see his maturity at such a young age,” Afridi added.
Shaheen also recalled his fanboy moment when he cleaned up Shahid in 2017.
“I never thought I’d become a family member.” It was a dream come true for me to play against him. “I took his wicket,” Shaheen remarked.
