Ousmane Dembele has reportedly been presented with an offer to play for Paris Saint-Germain, which Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez revealed on Tuesday. Dembele is expected to depart the Spanish giants Barcelona.
Dembele, who is 26 years old, did not start for Barcelona in their last preseason game in North America, a 1-0 victory against AC Milan in Las Vegas on Tuesday. This victory capped up Barcelona’s North American trip.
After the match, Xavi said on Spanish television that the French international Dembele, who scored in the triumph against Real Madrid the previous weekend in Dallas, had been kept out of the lineup after alerting Barcelona that he wanted to quit the club. Dembele had scored in the match.
Xavi stated, “I will be very clear,” and he meant it. “He has asked us that he wants to leave, and he has been very direct about it, that he has a proposal from Paris Saint-Germain, that they have called him from there, and here we cannot do anything about it,” the manager said. That is up to him to decide on his own.
“It pains me because I believe we have taken fantastic care of him here such that he is happy and satisfied and continues to make a difference for us. It hurts me because I think we have taken great care of him here.
“However, he claims that he has received this offer, and that he has made the decision to go. Because of this, he did not participate in today’s game.”
Dembele, who signed with Barcelona in 2017, has one more season remaining on the deal that he signed when he joined the La Liga powerhouse.
