On Friday, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the selection of a 15-man roster for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh by the West Indies “A” side. Joshua Da Silva, the wicket-keeper-batter for the West Indies in Test matches, will lead his side as captain in the three “Test” matches against Bangladesh “A” that each last four days.

Beginning on May 16, the first of a series of three matches between Bangladesh A and West Indies A will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Each match will be played over the course of four days.

Other members of the 15-man team with West Indies Test match experience included Tagenarine Chanderpaul, a left-handed opener; Raymon Reifer, a left-handed allrounder; Anderson Phillip, a fast bowler; and Gudakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner. Da Silva was the only player on the squad with West Indies Test match experience.

In addition, the roster featured three players who were making their debuts at the international level for the first time: the openers Kirk McKenzie and Zachary McCaskie, as well as the quick bowler Jair McAllister. Earlier on in the year, all three of them participated in the West Indies Championship, which is a four-day long first-class competition. This was where they made their first-class debuts.

As they attempt to expose the players to situations in other countries, the Lead Selector, the Most Honorable Dr. Desmond Haynes, noted that the goal was to choose a balanced team as they pursued this objective.

“We selected a group of players who we think could benefit from the exposure in Bangladesh, and we also have our eyes on the upcoming Test Series against India in the Caribbean,” said the captain of the team. “We have our eyes on the upcoming Test Series.”

He continued by saying, “Among the newcomers, we have pace bowler McAllister who is both quick and powerful and has the capacity to unsettle batters.” McCaskie’s first-class career got off to a strong start, he shown a decent temperament, and he also possesses the ability to play in all areas around the wicket.

During the Headley Weekes Tri-Series, McKenzie’s performance as a batsman for the West Indies Academy stood out due to the fact that he scored 200 runs. It was a fantastic knock, and it showed that our investment in the Academy is beginning to yield fruit.

The “A” Team from the West Indies is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on May 11. These contests will be given the highest possible first-class ranking.

West Indies The members of the A squad are as follows: Joshua Da Silva (Captain), Alick Athanaze, Yannic Cariah, Keacy Carty, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Tevin Imlach, Akeem Jordan, Brandon King, Jair McAllister, Zachary McCaskie, Kirk McKenzie, Gudakesh Motie, Anderson Phillip, Raymon Reifer, and Kevin Sinclair
