‘class is permanent’: hathurusingha on soumya0

Head coach of Bangladesh Chandika Hathurusingha is ecstatic about Soumya Sarkar’s return to form and is confident that the opener can continue that form into Wednesday’s Twenty20 series against New Zealand.

“I am extremely pleased with Soumya’s performance. “I have always known he is capable of playing well because he demonstrated it when I was here previously,” Hathurusingha told the media today in Napier.

Soumya amassed an impressive 169 in the second One-Day International, the highest-ever score by an Asian batsman in the format against the hosts in New Zealand. In the third match, he also performed admirably with the ball, taking three wickets.

Hathurusingha was not startled to see Soumya strike with the bat, as he had confidence in the left-handed batsman’s prowess.

Soumya breaks the record for Sachin with a ton.

“Everyone agrees that class is permanent.” While numerous factors can influence form, one such factor is one’s thoughts. “The greater your clarity, comprehension of your role, and ease in your surroundings, the more effectively you can optimize your potential.”

Additionally, the Sri Lankan is certain that Soumya will perform admirably with the bat in the forthcoming Twenty20s, which will serve as the beginning of Bangladesh’s preparations for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup the following year.

“If he is in a good head space, there is no reason why he can’t perform in the T20 matches.”
