Following the announcement of a slew of matches throughout Europe on Tuesday, many of Europe’s most illustrious clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, will compete in tournaments in Asia this summer.
In friendlies to be played in Tokyo, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are on the verge of regaining their Premier League title, will take on his old club Bayern Munich as well as Yokohama F Marinos, who are the reigning Japanese champions.
Both of City’s upcoming matches, against Marinos on the 23rd and Bayern three days later, will take place at Tokyo’s National Stadium. City will take on Marinos first.
Before traveling to Singapore to take on Liverpool on August 2, Bayern will first compete against Kawasaki Frontale of the J. League.
In addition to their match against Leicester on July 30, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will compete in a total of two matches while in the city state.
The trip will take place in Australia, Thailand, and Singapore, and by that time, Tottenham Hotspur should have a new head coach in place.
On July 18, Spurs will play West Ham in Perth, and on July 23, they will fly to Bangkok to play Leicester. Spurs are currently looking for someone to take Antonio Conte’s position as their full-time manager, and they will play West Ham first.
On July 26, they will finish up their tour with a match against Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Singapore. Mourinho was their previous coach. The recently crowned champions of Spain, Barcelona, will also be making the trip to Asia.
On June 6, just a few days after the conclusion of their regular season, they will compete against Vissel Kobe, who is captained by Andres Iniesta, in Tokyo.
In addition, the Scottish champions Celtic will go to Japan this summer to compete in a match against Ange Postecoglou’s previous club, the Marinos, on July 19 in Yokohama.
