City 'in trouble' after silva adds to injury list, says guardiola0

Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, said that his team is “in trouble” now that Portuguese footballer Bernardo Silva joined the club’s long list of injured players.

Silva, who signed a one-year contract deal with City last month that will keep him there until 2026, had to leave before halftime of City’s Champions League opener win over Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.

Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Jack Grealish, and Mateo Kovacic, all of whom are important to City, are already hurt.

Guardiola said that Silva didn’t say anything at the end. “I didn’t talk to the doctors, but it sounds like he won’t be able to play in the next games.”

The next game for Premier League leaders City is this Saturday against Nottingham Forest. They want to make it six wins in a row, but Guardiola is worried about how having so many key players out at the same time will affect them.

He told reporters, “We are in trouble, but I’m not going to say, ‘Oh, we have a lot of injuries.'”

“When five important players—really, really important players—get hurt, it will be hard to keep going for a long time. But that’s just how it is.”
