Cole Palmer was late called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the team’s last two Euro 2024 matches as a prize for his good play for Chelsea this season.

Palmer, Aston Villa centre back Ezri Konsa, and Manchester City defender Rico Lewis have been added to Southgate’s team for the games against Malta and North Macedonia. This is because James Maddison, Lewis Dunk, and Callum Wilson had to pull out because they were injured.

Palmer is a forward for Chelsea. He scored the game-tying goal in extra time in Sunday’s exciting 4–4 Premier League draw with Manchester City. Palmer was on the England team that won the Under-21 European Championship in July.

According to reports, the 21-year-old moved from City to Chelsea in September for a shocking £42 million (£51 million). He wanted to play regularly with the first team.

He’s done great at Chelsea, hitting four goals in his first three games.

England has already made it to the Euro 2024 finals in Germany. On Friday, they play home to Malta at Wembley, and then three days later, they go on the road to play North Macedonia.
