The head coach of the Bangladesh national football team, Javier Cabrera, has stated that his squad is in very excellent form and that, with enough preparation, they have the potential to be competitive and make things tough for other teams in the next SAFF Championship.

The highest level of football competition in the area will take place in Bengaluru from the 21st of June to the 4th of July, and as part of the preparation, the men in red and green will play a FIFA friendly in Cambodia on the 15th of June.

Yesterday, when speaking with media at the BFF House, Cabrera stated that he and his team’s goal is to accomplish something significant for the country.

“Everyone on the squad, including the players and the coaching staff, is pumped up and ready to go. “We believe that we can accomplish something significant and give back to the country,” the Spaniard remarked, avoiding the setting of any concrete goals for his team.

“We will go game by game and be competitive, and by being competitive, we know we can make things difficult for everyone,” the 39-year-old coach said, adding that teams like Kuwait entering the fray will present a new challenge for the squad. “We will go game by game and be competitive,” the coach added. “By being competitive, we know we can make things difficult for everyone.”

Prior to going to Cambodia, the squad will hold their training camp at the Bashundhara Kings Arena. On June 16, the team will depart from Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, for Bengaluru. This information was provided by the vice president of the BFF, Kazi Nabil Ahmed.

In the meantime, the official of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), who is also the vice-president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, stated that they are attempting to persuade the BOA to include a men’s football team in the 2018 Asian Games contingent.

Despite the fact that the men’s squad advanced to the final rounds of the football competition for the first time in the most recent edition, which was held in Indonesia in 2018, the BOA executive committee met on Saturday and took the decision not to send the men’s team. They cited “a lack of performance” as the reason for their decision.

“We are having talks with the BOA to have our men’s team in the Asian Games in Hangzhou,” Nabil added. “The games will be held in China.” I had a conversation with the president of the BOA the evening before yesterday (Saturday), and I informed him that the men’s team also has to be sent.
