The 10th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) began today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with no spectacular opening ceremony.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board did not build much buzz before the competition began with banners or advertisements. However, the inaugural game of the Bangladesh Premier League between Comilla Victorians and Durdanto Dhaka has drawn a large audience, with supporters waiting outside the gates and many already filling the stands.
Nazmul Hassan Papon, BCB president and minister of Youth and Sports, was welcomed by a red carpet when he met with the players and umpires before to the commencement of the opening ceremony, which included just coloured petrol canisters, balloons and smoke bombs.
What is wrong with the BPL?
Durdanto Dhaka won the toss before the start of the match and invited reigning champions Comilla Victorians to bat.
At the toss, Comilla Victorians captain Liton Das faced Durdanto Dhaka skipper Mosaddek Hossain Saikat.
