Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon stated that if the Bangladesh team wins the current two-Test series against New Zealand, they will receive a substantial bonus.
“They didn’t inquire about it [bonus].” “But they were hoping for an announcement,” Papon said following a supper with the Bangladesh Test squad in a Dhaka hotel to congratulate them on their triumph over New Zealand in Sylhet.
Papon stated that in order to receive the bonus, the players must either draw or win the Dhaka Test, which begins on December 6, in order to win the two-Test series.
“One of them [players] inquired about the bonus.” I told them they’d get it if they won the series. “There is no doubt that if they win the series, they will receive a large bonus,” remarked the BCB president.
After defeating the Kiwis on a sports pitch in Sylhet, the Tigers will face the hosts at Mirpur’s low and slow Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The BCB president stated that criticising head curator Gamini de Silva for the tacky pitches in Mirpur was pointless and listed the reasons why they couldn’t produce a sporting surface at Bangladesh’s cricket home.
“We’ve brought in experts from the ICC and elsewhere.” They’ve all stated that the Mirpur pitch is what it is. It is pointless to pin the responsibility on one person (Gamini de Silva).
“The number one issue is that we don’t give the pitch the necessary rest.” You can’t keep the surface in good condition if you play so many games on it. We can fix the Mirpur pitch if we get a year off. But forget a year; we can’t even take a month off. In Mirpur, we also play domestic matches. So keep these considerations in mind.”
