Blackcaps reshuffle squad with potential debutants for bangladesh odis0

New Zealand has picked a 13-man ODI squad to face Bangladesh, with three players receiving their first call-up to the fifty-overs squad.

The three prospective ODI debutants included in the squad that will undergo a major overhaul following the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 are 26-year-old all-rounder Josh Clarkson, leg-spinner Adi Ashok, and seamer Will O’Rourke.

Ashok, who made his T20I debut in the UAE in August, will be in the team for the final two games, with Ish Sodhi taking the field in the first.

Tom Latham will captain the team, which will be missing numerous senior players from the World Cup roster. Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, and Devon Conway are all missing.

Due to injury, Michael Bracewell (Achilles), Matt Henry (hamstring), Lockie Ferguson (Achilles), James Neesham (ankle), Ben Lister (hamstring), and Henry Shipley (back) were not considered for selection, while Trent Boult opted out.

“Josh [Clarkson] is someone who, while still only young, has played over 150 matches for the Stags, developing his skills with bat and ball to become a consistent contributor,” Sam Wells, the captain of the Blackcaps, stated.

“Adi and Will are both new to domestic cricket but have impressed in their early efforts and have stepped up well this year in New Zealand A matches against Australia A.”

“Both offer valuable skill-sets, Adi with impressive control as a young leg spinner, and Will with natural bounce and variation as a tall pace bowler.”

The ODI series kicks off on December 17 at Dunedin, Nelson, and Napier.

Tom Latham, Adi Ashok (matches 2 and 3), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Mark Chapman, Josh Clarkson, Jacob Duffy, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Henry Nicholls, Will O’Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Ish Sodhi (match 1), Will Young are the New Zealand squad.
