Barcelona, a LaLiga team, revealed on Thursday that the club’s shirt for next week’s Clasico versus Real Madrid would contain the band’s iconic tongue and lips insignia.
Online radio station Sponsored by Spotify since the 2021/22 season, Barcelona had previously included Drake and Spanish singer Rosalia in marketing promotions, but now rock lovers can rest easy.
Repeat winners: FC Barcelona and Spotify. The club has declared that the jersey Barca will wear at El Clasico on October 28 will become an international phenomenon.
“The Tongue and Lips logo of The Rolling Stones (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood) will replace the Spotify logo on the legendary FC Barcelona kit.”
The jersey will go on sale on October 23, the same day that The Rolling Stones’ new album, Hackney Diamonds, is released. In addition to the men’s team, the Barca women’s team will wear the kit on November 5 versus Sevilla.
“We’re big football fans and we’re honoured that Spotify has put our Tongue & Lips logo on the FC Barcelona jersey to celebrate the release of the Stones’ new album ‘Hackney Diamonds’,” the Stones commented.
“We will be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as the fans around the world who will be watching this iconic match.”
Fans who don’t get their hands on the shirt in time may still purchase a limited edition album package that includes the record and a throwback shirt with the Barca crest.
