After Bangladesh A won the toss and elected to bat in the semifinal of the Women’s Emerging Teams Cup at Mong Kok against their Pakistani opponents, the game was cut short due to rain after just 3.4 overs.
Bangladesh A were reduced to 16 for six in that short amount of time. However, in spite of this loss, the Tigresses were able to keep their composure and prevail against Pakistan in a nine-overs-a-side game by a score of six runs, which allowed them to advance to the championship match versus India, which will take place later today.
After the first day of the reserve day, the second semifinal was played, and Pakistan’s pace-bowling all-rounder Fatima Sana opened the day on fire, taking the first three wickets. She brought back Sathi Rani, Sobhana Mostary, and Lata Mondal, who was the skipper. After then, Dilara Akter became Anosha Nasir’s second victim, which left Bangladesh in a state of shock.
A 37-run combination between number seven Rabeya Khatun and number eight Nahida Akter allowed Bangladesh to achieve 59 for seven in the amount of overs that were permitted to them. This allowed the squad to avoid embarrassment. While Rabeya scored 10, Nahida smashed an important 21 off of 16 balls.
Sanjida Akter Meghla defended 13 runs off the final over, which resulted in Pakistan being limited to a score of 53 for four in their reply. Both Rabeya and Nahida were outstanding with the ball as well. Rabeya took two wickets for 13 runs, and Nahida produced one wicket for 8 runs.
“We had a rough start with the bat, but our middle-order players handled the situation quite effectively. “In addition, our bowlers bowled well, which was a major contributor to our victory,” our captain, Lata, stated.
